Thanks for your detailed response and clarifying exactly what orchestral Spirocores are! Really helpful. The bass in question probably falls in the category of the smaller body (5/8) relatively cheaper basses from Europe but made with good wood. Now that you have clarified that the orchestra Spirocores are essentially jazz strings maybe the strings are okay anyway.
I think I will get my bass to a luthier because it does need some work on the nut and some other minor work. It is really a nice punchy jazz bass and perhaps after getting the work done I can better assess whether I like these strings or want to go with trying some others.
