I like to grow peppers!

They've got that beautiful classic heart shape and the colour is stunning. Do you use any chems/pesticides or is it a totally organic project?

Organic miticide, fungicide and pesticide. Also use 'used' coffee grounds in the soil, mix this stuff called "Thrive!" in a spray bottle w/water on the leaves and a plant food with a high center number around 55 (I.e. 'xx-55-xx').

Oh, I totally forgot to mention about the plant food; I use only a third of what the plant food says to use and instead of once every 7-10 days, I'll do it every 3 days. A trick I picked up from a successful nearly 90 year old pepper farmer located here in the Bluegrass.

So the same quantity, just in smaller doses and given more often? I'd be interested in the science of how that works in plants, but there's no substitute for 90 years experience!

They all look really glossy and healthy.

Think I can grow hit peppers in St Croix Virgin Islands? It's hot and humid all year long. What about other veggies? The local selection here is the pits...shipped in the long way via slowest boat known to man apparently.

I assume planter boxes would be best?

Science? Ask farmers how exact of a science these things are. :D

They are very healthy and I just picked a large bunch this evening, before the storm, so they aren't blown off to the next county. I'll take some pictures and post tonight's pull this evening.

Yes, do you sell them? I'd love to get my hands on a couple of those ghost peppers. All I have now is ghost pepper powder for my recipes. I get it from a friend in Washington State who owns an Asian fusion restaurant.

Last night I stayed up shooting a bunch of artsy fahtsy (my Bostonian bleeding thru) photos of the peppers that I picked last night before a nasty storm. So sometime this morning I'll batch them and pop them up here, probably closer to lunchtime.

Hey Mike, I don't sell the peppers yet, but Amy (my way better half) and I have the appilcations for the local farmers market here in Lex, which is huge and very well attended. The funny thing is that we are planning on doing our pepper jellies and jams there at the market next year, due to the overwhelming response to our various batches.

I would love to sell the peppers, but I know that I would be violating some CUP violation doing so, especially on here. I do plan to ship some near-ripe ones to Chris Benavente in Oregon, to see if #1 the make it in good amount of time to be solidly ripe and #2 if they make the trip... plus, I want to see via skype if Mr. Benavente can handle habs and scorpions. :D

Oh and BTW, my Scorpions and Butch T's are a bit hotter than your usual Ghosts by a good few thousand Scov's.:hiding:

I'll look forward to it. Do you sell them?

Like I briefly mention a second ago, with in the next 6-8 months Amy and I are working through the process of starting this:

.... and a variety of other flavors as well.

Next go 'round I am going to try all of those!

Feel free to hit me up via email ([email protected]) should you interested in starting any of the ones that I have going or if you would like to correspond regarding tips and tricks to getting peppers going.

Here are some that I pulled last evening:

Please do, I like helping others, talking about peppers and sharing my growing experiences.

As for Flynn (my Russian Blue helper), he is a just really tiny. He is about 2 years old and will always be our kitten, but he is full grown.
