I LOVE spalted maple

I like wood - all kinds: oak, walnut, knotty pine, aspen...
I like the variations in grain, texture and color; as individual as fingerprints. The tonewoods used on expensive guitars are flat-out gorgeous, but the one that always gets my attention is spalted maple. Yes, I know it's partially rotted, and that the figuring is created by fungus, but still, I'm crazy about it. Am I nuts?

Masterpiece.

Yeah, Sheldon did a good job. I have a 'bonus' quality piece, probably due to some stuff along the way. The headstock and the neck inlays (which I don't currently have a pic online) are from the same flamed/spalted piece and the pickup covers match the body both in finish and wood (swamp ash with contiguous top wood).
