I made my own brass nut

I made my own brass nut for my 4 strings bass. :)
Sound brighter and lively. I like and recommend it to try.

yeah, looks great! i put brass nuts on my electrics, where i imagine i get a slight increase in sustain and a bit of extra "zing" on the open strings, but i haven't done one for my bass.

one suggestion is a tiny bit of light machine oil ("3-in-one") in the nut slots since it is metal sliding against metal. done right and kept lubed, brass nuts stay in tune really well.

Here’s one of my brass nuts. I’ve got another one on my J Plus.
I don’t know about any effect on open strings, but i know for sure if you break a brass nut you got much worse problems than a brass nut. One less thing to worry about.

Looks nice

But you, sir... must have nuts made of brass to come in here and declare such a thing! I hope it doesn't stir up an anger typing tone-nut debate :nailbiting:

Just kidding :D Personally I misplaced the one that came with my Spector when I had a faux bone one cut for BEAD, then switched back to EADG a few months later. I can't say I noticed the diff either way, but there were too many variables since converting to really tell.

Rock it :bassist: and Enjoy!
