I need a 12 step program for my Finger Ease addiction

It IS a fact however, that using too much finger ease leads to bigger, more powerful things - like fast fret. From there....who in God's name knows....??

Bassists huddled together in run down, dilapidated old houses, trading finger ease for food stamps...it's a real thing.. :)

I disagree with the claim that use of finger ease leads to the use of more powerful things, like fast fret.

I went straight to fast fret without ever having tried finger ease (but I never inhale).:D

I used it for a while back in the day, but was caught by my band mates while attempting to huff it. After a stern lecture on the dangers of Finger Ease, the can was confiscated. I've been Finger Ease free since 1996. Can say the same for the guitarist, he's the one who took the can! Poor fool.

A tiny scratch or bump, I'd pay it no mind. The 68,000th tiny bump or scratch in the same place, and that area is getting a bit sensitive. Alabama is a great place, with a lot of great people. I play a lot of outdoor evening gigs, and when the sun goes down, the humidity changes and strings get sticky. It's really obnoxious. I need lube. I don't want to need it but I do. Years ago I used fast fret. It leaves grease behind, that wouldn't be a deal breaker but it seems to change the sound of strings to me, and the stupid flimsy plastic tube would break in my gig bag. So I made the switch to Finger Ease. The smell is just a bonus, because it works great, and I don't notice any after effects.... other than needing more of that scent.

Regularly play a rough enough set of set of roundwounds like I do (Rotosound Swing Bass, I'm looking at you!) and you'll never need to worry about sticky strings. You'll buff your fingetips till they're as smooth and fine as as your sweetheart's behind. And if you get any drag after that, you'll soon get plenty of lubrication from the blood that'll shortly follow. ;)

I spray it on a rag and wipe it on my strings at the beginning of the night. I never just spray directly on my neck or strings. The can and the rag live on top my amp. I have to wipe the back of my neck during the night to make it slick. I have tung oiled my necks and still they get sticky. Before I discovered F E I used to rub my fingers on the back of my ears to lube them up. I think the F E is better for my strings and my basses. Wiping my strings make my guitars and basses so much nicer to play.

I her ya on the 66s. I installed a set last week replacing some Elixier pre-lubed rounds and the windings felt much coarser. String noise; Ack! I've never used the liquid products other than the ones that spew from my facial pores.
