That's awesome. I am enjoy an IPA every now and then but I'm not a hop head, either. I think the whole IPA thing has gotten a bit out of control and so many awesome styles have been overlooked during the craft beer explosion.

A lot of homebrewers can get into brewing fads. For a long time it was hop overkill. Now the new fad seems to be sours. I was given a sour recently that was soured using yogurt. It was as delicious as beer mixed with sour dairy products could be.

Finger Ease is for wusses. All the cool kids are using Fast Fret these days. It's stronger and you don't get the munchies....or those headaches. I did, however, wake up one morning in a trailer park in Alabama with a really ugly guitar I didn't recognize....

If you must use a string lubricant, Finger Ease trumps the others, only because you know when it's getting empty. Fast Fret, String Fuel, you don't know you're out until you're out. That being said, i haven't used it for a while. I don't consider it necessary, and since I change strings about two times a month, i don't worry about cleaning them much. Just a wipe down will do.

It won't directly harm your fretboard, but it will create a coating over time that will affect future application of things such as oil. I oil my non-maple fretboards as part of maintenance, thus I won't apply anything with silicone on it.

Also, even though Fast Fret and Fingerease make the strings feel slippery, Fast Fret is a string cleaner while Fingerease is not. It's a lubricant.

in very humid conditions.
I like it but only as needed.

Have you tried Music Nomad String fuel? I think that also cleans strings.

Have you tried Music Nomad String fuel? I think that also cleans strings.

It's on my list of things to try. I like that the cloth is in a separate compartment.

I've found that if you use your fingers right, you don't need any extra lube.

I've never felt the need to use any of those products. I quickly rinse and dry my hands before playing which actually makes a noticeable difference. If the humidity is really bad I will dip my fingertips in 99% rubbing alcohol to ensure they get really dry.

I live and gig on the gulf coast. Sometimes the humidity and the temperature are in the upper 90's, and a neck with any kind of shiny finish can get pretty sticky, especially at outdoor summertime gigs. Finger ease comes in handy for such occasions. Other than that, I don't use it.

You are simply rationalizing your addiction. Seek Help!
