i agree with the thought that if you are bored with DONNA LEE....you haven't really explored it fully.

tear it apart....do a metal version of it...

play it with other people....just playing the head isn't what that tune is about.

COMMUNICATE....speak your music with other musicians.

then....go to libster.com and check out the ghost note lessons...they seem simple...but, make them your own.

I could care less about the white trash jokes (though Gruff, the pepto bismol vs. baseball bat was good stuff!), I'm just curious why he's "gay"...sure he may or may not be telling the truth, but who cares? He asked a question, he got an answer, and what I deemed to be a great one at that. What make's him "gay"? That's a pretty lame insult, can't you come up with something a little more creative?

Aw, c'mon you guys. Meet Dr. Hoodeh -

Now, can you say with a straight face that when you were that age, you want to express yourself on your instrument? to "communicate"?

Hell, wasn't musical masturbation important to us then???...."look ma, no hands!"

Will - Not that these guys aren't right about focusing on playing well, that's where it's really at. Complexity and speed often don't make good music.

But I totally understand your desire to play jaw dropping licks, even though you don't ever get to use them in most music. See if you can dig up a recording of Primus' song, "Lacquerhead" and try playing Claypool's break on that. If you can, let me know. I want to get tickets for your next gig!
