Double Bass I need your help!

Alright, I've only played the upright bass 1 year. That was all last year. Before that I've alternated different instruments throughout my middle school and high school careers.

I'll be majoring in music at ECU for composition/theory, but the thing is that they require an audition. I have one month. I've been composing all summer, so I've been neglecting practicing and working on compositions. I need your guys help. Since this passed year is my first time in the orchestra field (performance-wise), I need your help in picking a piece that would be a challenge for me but not a completely-out-of-the-field song.

I don't know of that many bass pieces... So yeah. Please, remember, this is a song for an audition to get into music school, and that's it. It isn't a song to place into a chair for performance at the music school's orchestra.

Your teacher should have recommended you a solo piece,but since it sounds like you don't have one, and you haven't been practicing, and you need something you can work up in a month
My suggestion is to keep it simple, don't try to play above your level or you will sound like - well, not good...
The Vivaldi sonatas are nice, also the Marcello sonatas. You could work one of those up pretty quick. Or why not just do a nice etude? The Storch ones are pretty nice, I also like the Bille.
The simandle ones are not very musical, but doable. Here is a link to some with piano accompaniment.

Thanks, Reedo! My bass teacher is my friend Jason. He has a bass teacher, Lenny Finkelstein (also teaches at ECU). I was going to take lessons with Lenny but I just can't afford it.
