I once met a guy who...

You should have told him that the third fret is now the second fret and he'd have to remove that as well. Once he removed that one, the fourth becomes the second and so on. Then you could see how close he'd get to a fretless before he figured it out.

Haha this is an awesome idea! :D

Reminds me of that time I convinced an idiot guitarist there was such a thing as a H chord.

He just invented the semifretless custom bass. I met a guy once who didn't want to pay for a 5 string bass so he just got a 4 string and put the low b where the E goes. THought he beat the system. still I counted and that bass only had 4 string...... Total spinal tap this one goes to 11 moment.

I guess the guy didn't care for the missing E? But as for me, one of my 4 string basses is strung with the lowest four strings of a five set, and for my playing style, I don't really need more range than four string for a song.

Parents should at least learn how to spell when naming their kids. I once worked with a young lady who claimed her name was Kenika (KenEEka), but it was spelled Kenkyai. The vowels weren't even in the right place. Another girl was named Michelle, but she spelled it Mushell.
I once read of a young man who didn't have a given name, only initials: B. N. Jones. When applying for military service the recruiter wrote B. (only) N. (only) Jones. He was subsequently known as Bonly Nonly Jones. (This story may not be true.)

I met a "bass teacher" one time that insisted that all of his students learn on his bass that all but the first 5 frets ripped out. He said that he hated bassist who played higher on the neck, and he didn't want his students to even consider the option.

Of course, he was really a guitar player.........

It may be apocryphal, but supposedly there is a woman out there whose name is pronounced She-tayde and which is spelled S-H-I-T-H-E-A-D. So says the book Freakonomics.

There is more than one. I work in a hospital, and it was rumored that a Shi`thead visited the ER one night. I personally knew, from my job, an elderly woman who immigrated to America from Italy back in the twenties. Her name - America Studebaker. An amazing lady. There is a local lawyer named Will Cheatam (bessemer al. - look it up). I went to highschool with April May. And a doc currently rotating through our hospital is getting big laughs - Justin Duke :)

When I was in the army there was this Mister Ellis in personnel. Really high squeaky voice, and I always made sure I said 'Sir", we only ever spoke on the phone. Well.... I'm leaving Berlin and as I'm checking out I am picking up my papers from none other than...... Miss Terrelis
