tl;dr version: my husband fell in love with the squier classic vibe '70s jazz bass, so after some weirdness from samash, i ordered it and it's on its way for his birthday next month.
my husband is a guitar player, but he plays some bass, too. he used to have an affinity 5-string, but as he developed hand issues, he sold it.
i was showing him some kinga glyk videos, and he ended up tuning down my GSR100EX MO and was having a great time with it with no pain, and he asked me if there was an affinity jazz 4 string. i couldn't find a current one, but showed him a squier classic vibe '70s jazz bass in black. turns out he loves a maple fingerboard with block inlays, and he really liked it.
well, yesterday i went to order it. i ran into issues with our samash card (this happened before), and a rep had to manually place the order after lots of weirdness; he said the order went through, read me the financing legal stuff, and that - i thought - was that. i had to rush out the door afterward, and when i started this thread, i discovered that the bass had never been ordered. it was still in my cart and my cart was locked so i couldn't actually go to it or add anything to it.
just got off the phone with sam ash - yesterday's rep had forgotten to finalize the order. today's rep took care of it, and after 24 hours in limbo, my husband's birthday present is ordered
i don't think in 25 years i've ordered something from sam ash online or in any of our three local stores without weirdness or extreme slowness rearing it's ugly head. so i guess this was par for the course.
btw, it's one of these
