i ordered my husband a bass

tl;dr version: my husband fell in love with the squier classic vibe '70s jazz bass, so after some weirdness from samash, i ordered it and it's on its way for his birthday next month.

my husband is a guitar player, but he plays some bass, too. he used to have an affinity 5-string, but as he developed hand issues, he sold it.

i was showing him some kinga glyk videos, and he ended up tuning down my GSR100EX MO and was having a great time with it with no pain, and he asked me if there was an affinity jazz 4 string. i couldn't find a current one, but showed him a squier classic vibe '70s jazz bass in black. turns out he loves a maple fingerboard with block inlays, and he really liked it.

well, yesterday i went to order it. i ran into issues with our samash card (this happened before), and a rep had to manually place the order after lots of weirdness; he said the order went through, read me the financing legal stuff, and that - i thought - was that. i had to rush out the door afterward, and when i started this thread, i discovered that the bass had never been ordered. it was still in my cart and my cart was locked so i couldn't actually go to it or add anything to it.

just got off the phone with sam ash - yesterday's rep had forgotten to finalize the order. today's rep took care of it, and after 24 hours in limbo, my husband's birthday present is ordered :D

i don't think in 25 years i've ordered something from sam ash online or in any of our three local stores without weirdness or extreme slowness rearing it's ugly head. so i guess this was par for the course.

btw, it's one of these

is this like one of those things where I buy a bowling ball "for my wife"?

LOL

he REALLY fell in love with that bass, and i can't play a jazz due to shoulder issues. otherwise i'd already own an aerodyne. he spent most of yesterday going "wow! i have that bass on the way" periodically after i ordered it, with that glazed look as he envisioned himself playing that bass in all its maple-necked glory :)

Awesome you got the hubby a bass! The Classic Vibe is way better than an Affinity Squier.
I had an Affinity P bass and that was the worst bass I've ever had. The no name eBay bass I got was better than that one.
I swore off Squiers for years but I see their better than what I've seen in the past.

Nice.

I never had an issue ordering online from SA

I was involved with a group of local bassists replacing one a kid had that was stolen from his high school band room late last year. We ordered this exact bass online. When it showed up at my place and I did my usual round of tweaking and setup, I was surprised at how darn good the thing was. I was really not expecting that. Neck was darn near adjusted exactly as I would have and it needed very little intonation adjusting. Sounded and felt pretty good.

All I read was the title and you had my attention. BTW, great choice. The classic vibe is WAY more bass than the price. He is the luckiest man on the planet.
AND You play bass AND you're on Talkbass. RULAGE!!!!
