I Present the IdiotBox Effects's Blower Box

I am really tempted by this pedal but less so since the idiot box guys can't seem to answer questions by e-mail and I don't feel like buying from someone that doesn't communicate at all.
Otherwise I might have it by now.
Sorry for the mini rant! :)

The guy might be too busy filling all these orders. ;) FWIW, I had great communication with him.

As did I. I must say there was one time that I emailed him that he didnt get back to me until a couple days later. But really, Matt is superb at communication and the time it takes to respond to them. If the guys is busy though, hes busy. Cant fault him. Hes only one guy.

Another question;Do you think he'd do custom things?
I really like the sounds I heard from the blower box but really dislike the way it looks and would love it in a less ornate box and maybe a silghtly smaller one too...
You think that might be possible?

For argument's sake, if all else I guess you could rehouse it. In the same way that you could put Starry Night in a blender to make it take up less space, but, it's up to you what you do with your pedals :)

Any suggested settings? I'm finding some really good tones out of the box, but have yet to try anything in a band mix. Thought maybe you guys could steer me in to some tried and true settings of your own. Right now, I'm kind of angling for some Blacky style bass from Voivod's Nothingface album. This pedal definitely got me back into some Voivod, so I figured since it was intended to get that sound, I might as well try it! Really, though, any awesome settings are welcome. Just asking! I'm also stacking this with a B3K, so if that's essential for your settings, I have that as well. (I know many of you have that as well!) But again, solo or not, I just want some good stuff. Thanks in advance, and here's a link to my current (but optional) goal.

Hi fella's.
So I bought one of these suckers for both guitar & bass work, cos everyone loves a Rat right?

I gotta be honest, whilst it works okay for bass, even without a blend, this pedal is SOOOOO MUCH BETTER for guitar.
I use proper equipment > SVT & Berg NV412 for bass, but I found the pedal lost a fair bit of definition with the higher gain settings, really think a clean/blend would jus take this pedal into legend status. Without a blend, it's just another derivative Rat for me....

That said, I'll be keeping it, it's the best Rat I've ever had for guitar work, and that includes a vintage real-deal Rat too.

That's odd on the bass. Mine doesn't lack any definition. It keeps through out the whole gain knob. How much treble are you dialing in with the bass?

Killing gods

He's a pretty receptive dude! I actually was going to be etching these before Matt decided to do it himself (at least I'm pretty sure that's what he did), and he's just the nicest guy. I'd wager he could stick that sucker in a smaller enclosure. The ONLY limitations I see are the pot on the top of the box, that would not fit in smaller enclosure with top mounted jacks and powersupply, especially without having grounding issues, and the one pot that's board mounted, but you could probably wire that sucker.

Email him! Facebook him! Great guy!

I'll e-mail him I think a I don't have a facebook account.
Does this pedal have batteries?
If so, maybe leaving them out might also make a smaller enclosure an easier thing to do.

I've had great exchanges with Matt. One of them was the best email ever from a pedal builder. It went something like

Matt shipped hope you like it!
Me got it, i love it!!!
Matt stoked!!!

First time someone dislikes the packaging. Most comments I get are "That is tough as Fuk". I can understand if you want it less metal I just can't respect it. :D You could always make it the "Duct-Tape Box".

Naaaa... Not duct-tape :)
I don't see metal there either-just a design I don't like.
Another thing I am wondering about is what the two lights atop are doing. What are they for?
If it's just a power on light, one would do that just fine. No?
