I put my first ding in my Ritter

I was thinking the same thing (Sharpie).
While I do have a lot of basses, I don't consider myself a collector, I like to think of myself as a player. My basses are meant to be played and not coveted. I'll make money playing that Ritter instead of reselling it. It's funny to me how finniky collectors can be. I will be at the House Of Blues in Hollywood and I will be rocking that Ritter and my Warwick Infinity as the backup. I am one lucky MOFO to have such a great array of basses, and a gig to play them at from time to time.

Be proud of your dings - it just means you play the bass instead of looking at it.

I have a frosted black Ritter as well, and I have exactly the same ding in my headstock. Also some buckle rash on the body, it seems the frosting just keeps falling off. It's going to Jens soon for a refinish, this time with a more durable lacquer i think 
Basses are suppost to have dings, why buy it if you're not going to play it.
My warwick has plenty of digs and scratches after what I put it through I swear the thing can survive being hit by a bus.
Rather than thinking of it as downed value to someone else think of it as raising the value to you since it has a story attached to it.
