I saw this on Reverb

In the next few weeks, I am going to purchase a hi-lo pass filter and was saving up for the Tech 21 Q strip or the Broughton filter. While I was perusing Reverb, I came across this and was wondering if anyone is familiar with this pedal or company. One thing I do like about this are the selection of outputs. This looks interesting.

Do you guys think that the Q-strip by Tech 21 is a better choice?

From what I'm seeing it's the more straightforward choice if it does what you want.

The SubQ box has a lot of options, but also a lot of potential for mucking up the sound.

The HPF only goes to 150hz, so it's not usable for me but I sure would love to plug this keyboard player I work with into it.

Did you have a look at the image on their website showing exactly what all the knobs do? I kind of thought the same at first, but after seeing that image the SQ might be a lot more versatile than the labeling would suggest.

No, I just looked at the picture and read the numbers.

This is their description of the HPF : HIGH FREQ – Determines the High-Pass cut off frequency. Adjustment range is 150Hz to 7kHz.

I'm sure it's a great tool, but I don't see 150hz being usable with bass.

Either the graphs or the spec is incorrect (or extremely "unconventional"...). It is common for crossovers to refer to the frequency where the filter SUMS flat, as crossover point. Alternatively, the -3dB point is often used.
If this LP filter has a lowest -3dB point of 150 Hz, then the graph is wtong, as the curve had dropped much more than 10dB, more like 20 dB.If so, the crossover freq is well below 100Hz. Too tired to check the graph again...

70-90 Hz is a better choice of crossover freq, at least from a psycho acoustic point of view.

Another option is the Sine Effects Mega Para v3 [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

The builder has been responsive on FB with a previous question I had, you could write him and ask if the Width controls operate as a resonance control when the channel is in shelving mode

Another option, though maybe overkill for your needs is the Source Audio EQ2

As far as I understood it the dedicated EQ control on each of the 3 channels for the 3 effect loops, which, beside each having a dedicated on/off foot switch, also each got a dedicated phase switch as well as input (send) and output (return) level controls, of the EHX Tri Parallel Mixer pedal, that additionally features a master volume and a master clean blend in control, basically is a combined LPF/HPF, functioning as a LPF bellow the 12 o'clock position and as a HPF above the 12 o'clock position.

Though I might be wrong in that assumption.

That thing looks super badass, for an EQ pedal, and would surely work very well for OP. 150 pounds sterling is a lot, tho.

You are describing a tilt EQ, which is probably indeed how those work, but it will not achieve anything similar to what an HPF does.

So it functions as a HPF (above 12 o'clock) although not achieving anything similar to what a HPF does?

How does that work?

Sounds like a contradiction to me.

The HPF only affects the High output. The Low output will have no HPF applied (it will have the LPF instead). If you want to apply a traditional HPF you will need to put it after the Low output (or after you mix the outputs back together), as this pedal serves a different purpose.

The frequency edges don’t go far enough for me. I would never say want to cut my bass off at the knees at 150, that would be ridiculous. Also, when using a lpf as an effect, 150 is an ugly frequency to end up with. I would want to get to somewhere between 60 and 90. On synths you normally go straight down to 20hz. And bringing it back slowly as an effect, there is a LOT of mojo that happens between 40-100hz
