I think I’m done

Correct there is no link, what happened is, when I started mountain biking, I did like it so much and I started ignoring music, and at some point, it crossed my mind selling my music stuff and just bike.

I can do that one or twice a week, but that's a very different occupation.
It's easier to sneak in some bass playing here or there.

Now I do surfing and can do it randomly with the weather, and I won't sacrifice long surf weekends for music unless guys playing or venue is so good that it's as exciting.

I think I am far from finding an occupation than can replace playing bass, because it's easy to do when at home, and I can do it at worst when watching a movie on the couch, and I still need gear for that.

keeping busy here. Not depressed, still plenty of passions, just directed somewhere else

I'm having kinda the opposite problem.
I'm trying to get back into it after over a decade of no playing. But, there's so much other crap going on that I can't carve out enough time. I'm mostly trying to just get into building, but also hoping that will inspire playing again, even if it's just noodling in the garage.
Even if you don't really play a bunch, or at all, just build one now and then. The last one you put together turned out really nice.

The tint in the poly made the color change. Thinking I’ll refinish it, because the blue was really nice
That bass does play well, sounds good, not great.

Sorry to hear that.

Conversely, I have a deep, burning passion to play, but lack the physical ability anymore. And there's nothing to do but wait for the miracles of modern medicine and the Almighty Insurance Co. to hash out their differences and let me have the feeling back in my hands.

I am however, growing tired of Talking Bass.

Forgot about having posted on this thread...

Glad to see OP got back to playing. I did too... after another successful fusion surgery (my second one...) in late Spring, I got the feeling back in both hands. After 5 months of recovery/rehab, l starting to play out again.

I agree and everyone is different, I can also play bass while watching a movie and you are not wrong but for me a quality practice time will do way more for me than lots of playing while watching a movie.
again this is just me and I do not mean your way is not good.
I sort of found a balance between bass /bike, for me it is a mater of having a challenge so I find something I really want to play and go for it, of course something pushing the limits yet realistic.
