I could type up a big long story about my background, but I'll make it quick. I'm 36 and have been playing and gigging for 20+ years. I've mainly played lead guitar, but have done two gigging stints on bass for a total of around 3 years. I sometimes get tired of the guitar and make the switch to bass. I enjoy the heck out of it and transform myself into a REAL bass player, not a guitar player playing bass.

Anyway... I'm ready for another stint and have been on the lookout for good deals. I think I found a heck of a good deal yesterday.

Got this brand new USA Fender Jazz Bass on clearance for $649!!! What the heck? I couldn't believe the price when I saw it! The serial number is 2007, but it has the new 2008 features, including the kickass new style case.

I also started searching on here a few days ago for a decent bass amp (not too expensive, but loud and giggable) and the comments about the Acoustic B200 really got my attention. I ended up getting that for $319. Holy cow this combo is loud! I didn't think 200-watts would be enough at all, but yikes. :ninja:

So yeah, brand new USA Fender Jazz w/case, set of strings, black replacement pickguard, and Acoustic B200 all for around $1,080 out the door.

Yay for me! Now everyone tell me how cool I am.

Oh yeah, I should also point out that I adjusted the neck and saddles on this Jazz Bass and it plays AND sounds like a dream! This sounds more "piano-like" than any other bass I've owned. Not sure if it's the amp that's doing it or the specific features on this bass? I do believe that the thinner finish and higher mass bridge COULD make this difference, but I'm not 100% sure that's what I'm hearing.

And this combo should work well for my needs! I think it sounds great, is super loud, and isn't expensive. I thought about the Backline 600 head and some sort of cab too, but chose the cheaper route with the Acoustic. I think I'll be glad I did!

You are wicked cool. I have the same bass on layaway until I can get my Stingray sold and am pretty psyched about it. All my money is tied up in my wedding so have to wait to get supporting membership to the site so I can post it, but anyway, once it's sold I'll pick up the Jazz bass and put a black pickguard on it like your cool-ass self. More pictures of your bass to get me through the wait are welcome.

I've only had this bass stuff for a day, so I really shouldn't be commenting on anything yet. I may not get to use it with a band for a while. It's hard to say.

Actually, the guy that builds Landry amps here in St. Louis is putting a band together and I volunteered myself to play bass. That's really why I went out and got this stuff yesterday. But, I've been wanting another bass for a while anyway.

The only thing I can say about the Acoustic B200 is that it sounds good to me and it's really powerful. Much louder than I expected for 200-watts. There are lots of posts on here about it, though, so do a search and you'll see alot of good press about it.

That's really funny, because I tried to hold out long enough to find a good deal on a used Stingray with the features and looks that I wanted, but I gave up.

What are the details about your Stingray? :eyebrow:

It looks like your gear is a bit nicer than this, but it's the best sounding MM I've ever heard. Plus the sparkle on the finish is sweet! Now gimme some j-bass pictures. (Just kidding)
