I think I may get a Traynor YBA200...

And I am just wondering if it will sound good with my 8 ohm Schroeder 1212. Right now I play an Eden 800A through the 1212 and it is pretty killer. I want to upgrade to an 800B but I thought I would try an all tube head. I may be joining another band soon and I want to have two rigs. So I need another head and maybe another cab.

So help me out..first of all... the YBA puts out 200 watts at either 4 or 8 ohms right?

Second....will the YBA 200 be a good match for the 1212? It is only 200 watts into a 1000-watt cab but will that matter?

Third of all, what is another 8 ohm cab I could get that would be a good match either stand-alone with the YBA.. stand alone with the Eden 800 or combined with the 1212 for use with either the YBA or the 800 (assuming I upgrade to the 800B) I'm talking either 10s or 12s here. I don't like speakers bigger than 12.

My personal opinion is that is will not sound good through that cab. I own a 1210 and I don't like the sound at all with my YBA-200 running through it.

when I gig with my Traynor I use an Eden 410 cab and I love the sound of it...although I think it would sound even better with a 6x10 or 8x10 cab. My experience is the more drivers, the better this head sounds.

your mileage may vary though

Yes the tube power section will be the same wattage into either load, unlike SS amps.

I'm not 100% sure how the YBA will sound with the 1212, but I will say that 200W is no matter into the 1000W cab. You don't have to worry about "underpowering" or w/e. It's fine. In fact, I run my 220W Trace Elliot V4 into my 1210 and it's fine (and plenty loud).

There's lots of choices here, you could go with another larger box Schroeder. Or something like Accugroove, or Aguilar might give you a different end of the spectrum from your Schroeder.

Also, you didn't make clear whether you plan on running the additional 8 ohm cab with your 1212 that you already have or not. Because there is a pretty inportant difference once you start talking possibly conbining or not.

Also why does the cab have to be 8 ohms if you plan on it being standalone?

Because the WT800B is stereo, and I believe only bridges at 8 ohms mono.

Perhaps I wasn't clear, sorry.

Right now I have a WT800A which has the quirk of bridging mono at 8 ohms. Which is why I use an 8-ohm 1212. At some point I'd like to upgrade to the WT800B which can bridge at EITHER 8 ohms OR 4 ohms. Which would allow me to use just the 1212 as I am now at 8 ohms, or add another 8-ohm cab and bridge both cabs at 4 ohms.

So I'm interested in cab recommendations for the following possible configurations (assuming that I have a WT800B...which I don't yet but I will at some point):

An 8-ohm cab that will go well with...

1) Just the Eden 800
2) The Eden 800 and my Schroeder 1212
3) Just the YBA 200
4) The YBA 200 and my Schroeder 1212

This is also assuming that I get a YBA 200. I'm still gauging people's opinions about it and trying to get a feel for things. I don't believe there is a store around here that has one...unless the nearest Guitar Center, which is about 50 miles away, does.But I'd like a powerful all tube head for a reasonable price and this one is way cheaper than an SVT Classic or Mesa 400+

I like fat, round tone that is warm but not muddy, sometimes with a little ballsiness to it. I mostly play a USA Fender Jazz Deluxe (active) and a G&L L2000 (active.) I sometimes play an MIJ Aerodyne (passive but with Duncan P/J pups) and an old Ibanez Roadster (Dimarzio P/J pups)

The amp is a good amp, good tone, EQ is a bit animic, in a sence that it doesn't give you much tone shaping at all, I found it to work best if you have active EQ/pre on the bass.

I have mentioned this before this amp has an (IMO better) old version If you care to explore, it was called YBAIII Custom Special. It looked big and touch ugly but the tone was and is great.

One small thing about the speakers:
High power handling sometimes makes speaker a bit stiff in responce to a low-mid volume I find it just seems that you have to push it harder to get full tone out of it.

If it is in good condition it should give you a good idea.

I made a modrod copy of this amp once, with individual bias adjustments for each tube it was sweet. Made a bit of a mess changing things in a process so I couldn't get full price for it but it did turn out to be a hack of an amp. My new "love" is a Link Removed

I don't play funk just classic rock/pop and praise music that has a folk/pop sound.No slapping or popping for my just fingers that move too slow.I want the deep rumble sound,I'm not crazy about the highs (that's why I dumped my GK for a tube head)but would like good mids.When I got this head I invisioned it with a pair of 15's, now I'm trying to find the right 15's

Yes thats fine, like I said, the bottom is really nice like an EV huge and round, I still like a little more top end with alum. dust cap for the high note articulation. (but it is optional)
You will grow to arpeciate it once you hear it. I have done it with my 410 which I just love. two all paper large dust caps, sort of ampeggy and top ones with alum caps for a little more top end clarity

I play kind of rock/blues a bit of funk and praise music too. I used to play in a worship band regularly, now we just practice together once in a while.
