Also I believe that some early MIM Fenders had the one piece pickguard like that. I think that what you have is a genuine mid-90's MIM Fender Standard Jazz. Either way if you like it then you got a good deal.

The mid 90's MIM Fender Jazz Basses had the pickguard like you describe. I remember shopping for a Jazz Bass at GC in 95 and seeing the Jazz like that. I thought it looked horrible. I bought a P Bass instead.

I had a black '95 MIM Jazz with the one-piece pickguard and strat-style knobs. Other than it looking ugly as sin, the bass played great and sounded wonderful. It was my first experience owning a Fender bass. Man, I wish I still had that thing!
