Yeah for real you could get an mjt body and musikraft neck and whatever electronics you want. Heck you could even have everything plek’d and it would still be under $2.5k.
You could get a sub-4.5-pound body from MJT. I bought one unfinished ash body that weighs just under 4 pounds, not 5, from MJT for $300 and finished it white blond myself. My heaviest bass, out of three I built, is an 8.5-pound JB with an alder body.
You could get Musikraft neck with a Fender Custom Shop profile of a flatsawn maple, quarter, roasted quarter... even with a slab Brazilian rosewood fretboard if you want! 7-1/4"R, 9-1/2"R, compound radius... Take your pick.
Spitfire scratch guard; Res-O-Lite Gotoh tuning machines; etc.

Change to the far better and versatile Jazz Bass and buy a used roadworn Fender Flea Signature bass with the Pure Vintage ‘64 pickups for about 1.000,-

Take a PB, remove the pick guard and electronics, remove the neck being careful not to lose any shims, take the body to the nearest auto body shop, have him sand blast then repaint to suit, reassemble, or take it to a luthier to reassemble and save yourself a boatload. And you get the pleasure of performing your own relic job.
I'm sort of relieved to find out I'm not a complete perverted weirdo for thinking pink and brown look good together.
