I want your string business!!

Nickel Lo Riders might be the closest thing DR has to offer? Nickel wrap on a hex core, but the wrap wire would not be flattened/compressed.

I ended up going with the GHS Balanced Nickel... I've been really curious about the "balanced" sets. I will probably try some Compression Wound next time :-)
Glad I found this thread... I'm so much happier spending my money with an independent company! You've been really helpful too.

cheers

OK, you want my business, here's my challenge. I like light gauge strings, but I also like my B string (I play 5's almost exclusively at this point) to have a matching tension, which....there are literally no 5 string sets that fit that description, so......

I either buy all singles so I can get a decent set, or I buy a light gauge set and a single B to match in tension. My most recent order(s) were for GHS Boomers and GHS Boomers - I had to buy light gauge 4 string sets from one place (got a decent price), and the B strings (130's) direct from GHS (the 4 string sets cost a bunch more if bought direct). I paid 2 shipping charges and had to order from two places to get decent sets of balanced tension strings. So, if you want to earn my business, you get to figure out how to get me what I need from one place, at a price competitive with other online string places.

In addition to GHS Boomers, I use GHS round core boomers, I use SIT Nickel power wounds (bought as singles, their sets don't make sense) and I use Kaliums for one bass (OK, that one isn't gonna go your way).

None of that sounds like a problem. So I just need to get some .130 Boomers and Roundcore Boomers? I've got both light guage sets in stock.

Sorry I don't deal with SIT or Kalium at the moment.

Greg, any luck finding a line on these?

I used to carry these back in the day, and it wouldn't be a problem to add them to my inventory. DR takes just 1-2 weeks to deliver typically.

What are you after for string count and gauge? 4-string? 5-String? Light? Medium? Heavy?

For the Lo-Riders... 4 string, .45-.105, Medium/Medium-Light

GHS M7200 Pressurewounds, for sure. I don't think I realized the total tension is a little over 187*... less than that would be okay as well... maybe, GHS ML7200, and whatever is similarly offered in the Lo-Rider's.

Thanks, Greg! I have the site bookmarked, too!

* I do enjoy the playability of these, even when tuned down a half step for my current band.

BTW - for any of you guys that buy multiple sets at a time, I've setup some discount codes that give you a certain percentage off X numbers of sets. The deals are 5% off 2 sets, 7% off 3 sets and 10% off 4 or more sets. Use these discount codes at checkout:

5OFF_2SETS
7OFF_3SETS
10OFF_4SETS

From DR strings:

"Thanks for your inquiry but we do not offer specific tension charts for any of our models. Here in sales, all we are told is that every set we make is set on the lathe to a medium tension. Production does not issue the exact numbers.

Our apologies,

The DR staff"

So much for kicking the tires. At least they got back to me.
