I wrote a children's song about monkeys!

I have been a guitarist for going on 12 years now and a bassist for 8 of those years, and after hanging out with my fiancé's cousin who is obsessed with monkeys I decided to write this for her. I am curious to see what the parents and children of talkbass think. You can find the song here and if you enjoy it please feel free to download the song for free. If this song gets a positive response I may even write a whole children's album.

It is perky, upbeat, simple and silly...and I instantly HATE it...So yes it is the perfect children's song and should do really well.

Actually I felt the backing vocals added a level of "sophistication" that seem to be lacking in children tunes. I think it will make it more listenable (tolerable?) the 356th time I hear it. (I have a 2-1/2 year old and know this.):)

That is so great to hear! I was worried about throwing too much into it, for example the melodica which I have weaving in and out of the song was redone several times because I felt it was getting to complicated, It's nice to know that I can still show at least a little of my musical maturity with this stuff.

I'm listening at work through crappy little computer speakers but if anything I would like to hear the lead vox more out front. I think fun and clear lyrics is what will attract the little ears more than anything. Again it may just be my speakers causing them to buried somewhat. Hopefully you'll get some more feedback.

Hmmmm it may just be your speakers but this is only a quick mix, so I will spend some more time on it tonight and over the weekend to try and tidy everything up. Thanks again for all your feedback, it's really helpful and it's giving me a lot of confidence in this new realm
