Ibanez AGB 200 string change

After purchasing an Ibanez AGB 200 I wanted to put flats on it and only found vague direction on what would fit. Strings are expensive and there's no sense in experimenting. I hope this helps others. In short, no pun intended, Medium scale D'Addario Chromes ECB81M were perfect. If you don't move to 45-65-80-100 gauge from the original gauge of round wounds that you bought the bass with you will not have enough adjustment in the bridge for the G string. Something I learned after a lifetime of ignorance on the subject is that Rounds are more flexible than Flats and because of that the intonation changes. Not usually a problem but in this case it was. As is, with flats on the intonation of the G is luckily perfect in the saddle's furthest most position possible. Seeing that quality control may be an issue with overseas manufacturing there is still no guarantee in a max position but, it worked on my Indonesian made bass. Btw, D'Addario has a great site for string choices but they understandably didn't address the intonation possibilities.
