May of 2010 this thread was started, I purchased my AFB200 in the summer of 2016. The bass has this problem. I’ve ordered the parts. I do like the liner taper for tone but it’s not a big deal, I can live with an Audio in that position.
I was a bit confused by the .22 capacitor but I assumed it was .22uF.
I can’t believe that Ibanez hasn’t dealt with this problem.
Thanks for posting the solution, I was just starting the task of figuring it out when I came across this thread in a search. My Mandolin player, a friend and State Park Ranger out at the S.P. I'm a volunteer at, got me to attend the "Song Farmers" Circle that gets together the first Sat. of the month. I've attended two of these with my Martin 00015S acoustic guitar. The facilitator, a semi-retired pro, pulled me aside to tell me how he appreciated another good guitar player in the circle, the idea is to get new and shy players together to have some fun and spread the music. This Florida Park sponsors the Florida Folk Festival, the Old Time Music Festival, a Dulcimer Retreat and a bunch of smaller music related events.
I told Skip I appreciated his complement but I was actually a bass player. I mentioned something about the oldtime music 1,4 1,5 bass lines that seem to be in the majority for most of the tunes and if I tried to play the upright in my style, I'd wreck my hands in about 15 minutes "o) They actually played "Stand by Me" and the bass player was doing the 1,4 1,5 thing, I didn't recognize the tune until the vocals. I couldn't let it go, when everyone was packing up I got into a discussion with the bass player, he let me play his upright and I had to set the universe back in balance by running through the Stand by Me bass line, some standards don't fair well with the 1,4 1,5 progressions.
Skip asked me To bring a bass for the next get together, I get the feeling he is auditioning me for his group, from the way he talked and Brownie, my mando player, bragging about my skills. Anyhow the old Guild B-50 will not cut through the dozen or so dreads, mandos, banjos and fiddles. The circle usually has 20 or more musicians and 75 to 200 in the audience. The Ibanez was purchased just for this type of situation, since I would have to be amplified anyway I think the AFB won't look as out of place as my standard electrics. At least until the crowd gets used to me. There are a couple of guys playing home made instruments, I can take that option too, funky home made stuff is Mountain Music Chic. I'm fairly new to playing this kind of music. Remember Martin Mull in his early stand up comedy days, he actually sat in a lounge chair with an end table and lamp like he was in his living room, and played his banjo. I'm considering building a light weight end table that will fit right over my 40 watt Fender Rumble too keep up apperences "o)
Sorry for rambling, thanks again for the info.
