Ibanez ATK LA Custom Shop 4 - WOW

Tres Sexy! I'm still a fan on the ATKs w/o a neck pickup, but that one is pretty damn fine! I'm not too crazy about the point at the tip of the headstock, but to each his own. How is the neck compared to other ATKs? Is it as chunky, or was it slimmed down to a sleeker profile like most Ibby basses? As I've always said, I'm really not an Ibanez fan, but the ATKs are SERIOUSLY fantastic basses.
The neck is still chunkier/rounder like most ATKs (not like a Soundgear), but still very playable; fits the hand nicely.
LOL...was wondering when someone was going to notice that! Got some Dunlop straplocks going on.

Absolutly sicko looking! Ive become a huge fan of my ATK305, I normally play it in my rock band but lately Ive been using it in a funk project and it rules that too. It was my back up for over a year but I sold my 55-01 to buy another 305 as my back up... these basses are becoming a classic in their own right.
Pretty bass, but it looks like they put those tuners too close to the center of the headstock, and they're overlapping each other.
Does LA stand for "Los Angeles" custom shop?

Congrats on the cool bass. The prestige 1300 that I played was in a different category than the all other Ibanez' I've played. Like the difference between Fender Custom Shop and fender MIM.

How does that five-way switch work, though? 'Cause the old three-way is single-coil w/high cut, single coil, and humbucker, I think.
Absolute 100% agreement here. I've not liked Ibanez in my 13 or so years of playing, but the ATKs are a different beast altogether. Amazing machines, they are, and every bit the "Stingray Killer" Ibanez hoped they'd be, IMO. I'd rather have my ATK305 than a SR5 any day. And this is after quite a few A/B shootouts.
The back of the tuner has been notched out to make clearance for the other tuner. It sits perfectly flush and doesn't affect the performance of the tuner in any way; it's a nice custom touch. I might swap the tuners for Hipshot UL's if I decide to keep the bass.
LA does stand for Los Angeles...it's actually up North Hollywood. Thanks...the bass is very cool. Might have to start looking for ATK1300s.
There used to be two separate Custom shops; one for endorsers and R&D, the other for customer orders. The "retail" side closed it's doors, but the endorser/R&D shop is still going.
Clint didn't give me a spec sheet, so I just started switching and tapping the pickups. I wrote down the stuff the other day but it escapes me. I think it was Single Neck, Neck + front coil of Triple, Front/Middle Coil of Triple, Middle/Rear Coil of Triple, Rear Single Coil. Not sure though... 3 & 4 positiions might just be Parallel/Series of the same coils. I'll have to double check. Lots o' variation though, that's for sure.
