Since this is a happening thread, forgive me for asking the same question here and elsewhere... is there a 5-string ATK with a neck pickup available ANYWHERE in the world? Even a discontinued model? I have two Ibanez 5ers, and I'd love to sell BOTH of them to get an ATK 5er with a neck pickup... seen one ONCE...

thanks fretless. Ive had a couple of ATk 5 stings also. As far as one with a neck pickup i dont know of any ATK 5 ever made like that.
Hmm its hard to answer. I just got it so i havent been able to gig with it or record with it yet. I think i could live without it since ive been playing ATK 300's for years now and i love those also. Its cool to rest my thumb there also. to have that option.
As you play it, a report on what you think of the neck pickup would be nice. Also your thoughts on the tone difference between the 300 series and the 750 series.

The bass you are looking for is the ATK 705 made in Japan in 2000

THANK YOU! I knew I wasn't losing my mind - at least, not by evidence of this incident anyway... Any idea if it was a one-year kind of thing? Must not have been very popular...
I forgot to mention that it has a mahogany body with an ash top.
Nah, I don't know how long they were out. They may not have sold them in the USA. BUT....2 years later (2002) they put out the ATK 405, which also fits the bill:

Whoops i feel really silly now. i didnt know that there were so many in japan that were sold like that.
If you have any connections to anyone stationed in Japan, well that's where I would start anyway.
Wish I hadn't seen the Prestige...I'm gassing for one of those now myself!
No - but they might have some around for sale somewhere. OTOH, the jazz pickup might be unnecessary if the bass sounds cool enough without it. I've LOVED the ATKs my students have brought in... a 5er would be fantastic...
If you loved the ATK's you mide as well just purchase a 305. It seems like it would be hard for you to get your hands on a 5 String with the neck pickup.
Its not like when i got the 750 it made me want to sell my 300s. The 300s sound great as well.
