What's the spacing on that? I'd love to see wider spaced Soundgears. I owned an early SR505 in the 90's. Great bass but got tired of the tight string spacing. I love the looks of the Prestige SR's but just can't pull the trigger due to the spacing.

chad and everyone, i will post pics and a more formal description in a new post asap... i'm having an absolutely crazy busy week and haven't had time yet. the pics on facebook don't really do the bass justice; i used the camera on my phone and they aren't too hot... i was just so excited about the instrument i uploaded from my phone just to share with folks. i'll use a better camera for posting here!

Very cool bass.. interesting to see the "slap ramps" like the Hadrien Feraud signature Smith on there as I don't think I've ever seen Adam use a bass with 'em. Also, those look like larger barts.. I'm hoping the tone of these are more along the lines of what the Tobias/MTD/Warriors use and less like what the Lakland/Roscoe bart tone is. If this ends up being a sig, I hope they'll do a 5er too

Sort of like being on the racetrack pushing as hard as you can and a guy passes you, turns around and waves while holding a video camera. (true story....the guy was 65 years old too).

I admit, I love my Ibanez. Bought it used for not much money and it's a nice bass. I've had a gaggle of pro players play it (including Adam) and they all seem to think it's a nice instrument. Of course, they could have been being nice and didn't want to tell me it sucks. LOL!
Chad, the Production quality on the BTB's is really nice. I went from a Warriro Studio 5 to the BTB Korean Production.
I miss very little if anything, and find the harmoics to be more astounding, it might be the monrail bridges but it is probably me.
Depending upon who set it up for you will make other players hate you and your bass, or tell you it is 'nice'.
One player has held my 6. He thought I was not playing. He was astounded. Then he felt the action.
Watch for the look of inspiration and joy.

Adam, any news on the Ibanez front?
I notice that you went with a Prestige Neck Thru layout. Is that punchy enouh for you?
Does that bridge allow you to get the action down real low like sub 1mm C and sub2mm B?
I have watched the evolution fo the BTB's away from the Bolt ons and noticed that I would not be able to get the action low enough for me on any of the new stuff, which looks really nice though.
Do you think the guys at Ibanez know this?

i've been playing the bass for a few months now and it's really been fantastic. the tone is really punchy and the bass is very dynamically sensitive to inputs. the action is super-low, also... i had asked for that to be a consideration initially and they really delivered. i haven't played any of the brand new production model stuff but hopefully it retains enough adjustability. i went with a 2 truss rod configuration and the neck has tremendous stability and you can really feel the instrument vibrate and resonate.

I have doubles in the Koreans and Japanese BTBs. After coming back and forth down from 2880' to 23' altitude, strangely it was the bubinga stringered Japanese 6 that needed lowside adjustment. The Walnut stringer koreans were ROCKS.
Finding the neck through puncy is interesting. I finally played a NT and BO Ken Smith 6 at ABG last week. The BO was so fast, but I had no time to assess the tone as I wanted to.
I came away with the sense that the BTB's I have are the Poor Player's Ken Smith. I am satisfied.
So when can I borrow you Ibby for say 6 months and check it out? (seriously)

Yes, it is kind of strange feeling the notes through the strap. Do not recall that happening before.
What I did notice even on my BO necks, that the harmonics do not suffer by any means. Really a blesing to have in a non Boutique instrument, but your is Ibanez's Boutique I know.

actually, there will be an interview posted soon that i did for ibanez at bass player live. it's basically of me talking about my new bass and some of the specifics regarding its tone and construction. hopefully there will be a more formal review published soon, as well. i'll post the link here from the ibanez site when they get done editing it.

ah, yeah, that's a small portion of the interview. i think they just posted that recently. yeah, i took the ramps off as my pickup placement basically took care of the need to have them. in other words, my neck pickup is essentially acting as my ramp.
