That is the Ibanez BTB 1405 premium bass that comes standard with the Nordstrand big singles. A whole lot of bass for the money.

Anyone using flats on their BTB? I'm planning my next string change and was wondering if it loses any of it's coolness due to flats. I use flats on my P-basses but the BTB is a totally different animal. Especially wondering what effect the 35" scale has on the tone of flatwounds.
I just put medium Dunlop nickel super brights on my 675. I usually run dunlop nickel light strings, but these medium strings are low tension so a higher gauge is still easy on the hands.
This bass is naturally on the darker side and these strings give it all the snap / high end you could ever need. The bottom is huge. My Aguilar OBP3 was the right choice, I switched to the 5.2 Bart pre and went right back to the Aggie. Dollar for Dollar, on a value $ basis alone. It's the best bass I've owned and I've owned my fair share of the boutiques.

2013 Limited Edition Fretless
Well, I'm not sure what he used, but I used Kyser Dr Stringfellow Lem-oil on the BTB 555 that I just bought. It works like a charm. Just follow the instructions on the bottle.

This is by far one of the best basses I have ever owned.
Thanks for that and she is one of my Keepers. Balance is great all around. Most of the boutique basses I have played weren't this nice.
Yep, but that's because the 4 string basses were not popular enough. 5 and 6 string were sold mostly.
Yeah, I definitely understand the reasoning behind the decision - with the SR 4-string lineup being so extensive, it would be hard to justify having an entire manufacturing process in place just for the 4-string BTBs.
I'm just happy I got my 4 string BTB before they stopped making them. Those of us that did buy them know what we have.

I've been playing my BTB constantly since I picked it up a few weeks ago. Been playing as much as I can so I can get used to playing a fiver again (not a problem this time around. Last few times I gave up and went back to fours).
I've been playing close attention while playing so I can decide on any needed mods, and quite honestly I haven't found anything I would change. It's great as is.
I may at some point get some fancy knobs, and eventually I'll need to replace the stacked mids pot (the center detent is a little worn).
This bass has cured me of GAS for now. I've already decided that my next bass will be a second BTB. I really love the neck on mine. I thought for sure I would struggle with the wide fretboard, but I'm not having any problems at all. It makes my fat necked P-bass feel downright tiny after jamming on the BTB.
Now I just gotta decide on my next. It's either gonna be a Terra Firma or a 7-string if I can get one.
I guess the third time is a charm for the switch to five-string.
