Well guys I fell in love with the BTB 1405 series bass that I went and purchased another one off Ebay. Got a steal of a deal on a mint condition like new. These bass guitars are worth every penny. Blows my mind that more people don't own them. I've played many high
er end bass and nothing I've played compares.
You won't have any problems with a gig bag, the short headstock makes them shorter than a standard P bass over all.
You might have a problem at the bridge if you try using a heavier B (135+) but you can get round this by using a tapered string, which I vastly prefer (better adjustability when it comes to action)
I doubt it : the Monorail bridges can hold heavier string gauges than most other bridges. I've seen .160 low B's on them, even a .180 low F# string.
Picked this amazing thing up in the classifieds recently. It's really something. I was lusting over one as soon as I saw the promo video from Ibanez. Luckily I got the opportunity to pick one up and give it a good home. I'll be holding onto this one for a long, long time.

I was also able to restring with my usual 45-105 D'Addarios, with a .130 low B I had laying around.
New strings really woke up this bass, and it's quickly becoming the one I grab for practice at home.
I picked up a BTB405 in need of cleaning for $130 with hardshell Ibanez case the other day. Should be a nice little 5'er once I get her cleaned up. I'm not crazy about the looks of the BTB basses (personal opinion), but it's awfully hard to deny that they play and sound great for the money.

I think you guys can follow along ok, so I won't quote what's going on with every picture....
Here are the "BEFORE" and a few "IN PROGRESS OF CLEANUP" photos....it was definitely dirty, corroded, and nasty. Now it looks a lot better, though I could only get "some" of the corrosion off the bridge. Oh well. For $10 with Ibanez hard case, I can't complain !

YOU CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN THE POLISHED FRETS AND THE OLD GNARLY FRETS.
ANYWAY, I POLISHED THE FRETS, CLEANED THE ELECTRONICS, POLISHED OFF WHATEVER CORROSION I COULD, CLEANED THE FRETBOARD, RESTRUNG, AND SET IT UP...NOW IT PLAYS AND SOUNDS GREAT !
AND A CRAPPY "AFTER" PIC..... I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE USED THE GOOD CAMERA.... OH WELL.
A little better before and after ... amazing what some steel wool, fretboard conditioner, polish, electronics cleaner, rags, and some elbow grease can do.
