I've had the same bass for almost a year now. It's amazing. The 6 string definitely takes getting used to but from a 9 year 6 string player, the adjustment time isn't that long. One tip, don't get comfortable and use the 6th string as a crutch to not move up and down the fret board. Alot of new 6 users do it and its limiting.
I like the timbre of notes high up the neck, so I'm still approaching the bass aspect of my playing from that direction. I think the C string is going to be used mostly for chordal accompaniment and soloing in a non-bass vein. At least that's how I'm picturing it at the moment. And yes, the temptation is to play across the fingerboard rather than up and down it.
