Ibanez BTB multiscales…sheesh

Invalid Link Removed

My guess is based on this.
Yeah, I remember seeing that pop up last year.

I’m in for a fun and interesting summer, though. Zzounds is still standing by June for my BTB806MS, and I’ll get my Z3 in August.

I expect the BTB to be a good bass, but my NG3 sets the bar very very high indeed, in terms of a MS bass that plays very well, in my hands.

Myself and others will be excited to hear your analysis and comparison of the 3

Alright, now you’re just straight trolling us Bass the World. Or did Ibanez make you release this video first that’s about the bass we’ve heard the pickups of a thousand times.

I’m just happy for Ibanez-endorsed bass players like those from Fit For An Autopsy and Knocked Loose who play in drop G, they can finally be “in the right.” LOL.

But seriously. I don’t like how Ibanez does this. ESP LTD can tease and release in like 2-3 months but 9-ish months for Ibanez is a bit frustrating, supply chain issues or not. I did the same wait the first year the EHB came out!

Ive had my NG3 a few months now, I love the tones and weight/balance. What I disliked about it right out of the gate was the thin low frets. I play stainless steel strings and they have already dug into the frets. Its just a matter of a short time before I'll have to refret. When I do I'll use fatter stainless steel frets. I never had that happen with my BTB846sc, and I never gave it a thought. It was the first thing I looked at when the MSBTB pics were released. I think they're getting that part right from the start. Still there's more than plenty reasons to stick with the NG3.

That initial wear has been discussed ad nauseam. It's not an issue nor indicative that you'll need an "early" refret by any means. Lots of us have many years and thousands of hours on our original frets - even some of us with Dingwalls with the even smaller fretwire - without needing refretting.

I apologize for re-nauseating the discussion. Im grateful for your reassurance, thank you.

Hopefully I don't get in trouble with Germany but I did a thing. I realized that this one Youtube demo was actually really good once it's shortened substantially because he played these three different basses from the same interface with the same, presumably minimal processing. This actually gives a really good comparison to what the BTB805MS sounds like compared to the EHB ( with the BH2 barts that everyone is meh about) and the the SR (with the Nordys that everyone loves). Unfortunately, he played completely different stuff on each bass but it still gives a good idea.

Short scale... multi-scale? It's an interesting thought and I don't think I've seen anyone do it in the bass world. Something like a 30"-34" fan would be fun to try out.
Not quite short scale, but the Dingwall Super J and P basses are 32" to 34.25". I'd describe the G string side as more medium scale than short scale. Still, it provides a very different feel to me than a 34" D and G string. I'd love to try a 30-33" or even a 28-32" as I never find myself playing in dropped tunings and prefer a lower tension string feel.
