Ibanez BTB W/Jazz pu

Hello everyone I just came across an Ibanez BTB 5 string bass for sale sorta local, but I have never seen one like this ..
It has regular jazz bass pickups instead of the soapbar style
that I always seen...
Anybody know what year this one is or is it a proto type of some kind.
I did a search here but could not find anything..
I know there are some BTB experts here...

Hmm, only three knobs too. I wonder if this was an early model or some sort of prototype.....assuming it's really a BTB.

I've seen some BTBs with the double j's... I personally don't know the model(s) number(s)...

That's a super old model and I think they were kind of searching at that point. Those came out after they were making BTB's in Japan and Korea.

Nordstrand makes soapbar style J pups that you can put in, if you've got the BTB already.

Judging by the well worn thumb spot, somebody liked it quite a lot and played the heck out of it. Always a good sign as long as the frets aren’t super worn. If it’s reasonably priced, I’d snag it if I were you.
