Ibanez BTB205

A local music store is having a going out of business 50% off sale. I can pick up one of these Invalid Link Removed for $170. It seems like a great deal, but the neck needs to be tweaked. It has no relief and there is so much fret rattling that I can't get a good handle on the true tonal qualities. I thought I'd ask around here if anyone has experience pro or con with this model.

The tone, the craftmanship in BTBs 200 and GSRs 200 is one of the worst i've ever heard in this price range. The necks are getting warped, the bridges torn from body by strings, same as strap holders. Massacre..

It's way better to buy used and abused BTB 405QM

i can't say much about this 205 because i haven't played one. but this is my general opinion on ibanez. their lower priced stuff is also pretty low quality. it's cheap and made cheap. their higher end stuff is amazing though. the BTBEFM1005 Prestige is awesome. i've been GASing for one for awhile now.

No defenders of the BTB205?

I'll defend my BTB575QM to the death. A 205? A few years ago, I would've said that any Ibanez was the best in its price range. Now, I couldn't recommend them. I've seen too many in the last couple of years that are unplayable between their tone and inability to take a good setup.

I play on a BTB 205. I'm sick of hearing all this ******** about ibbys. This is a cheap bass, don't expect to play in a stadium with it. But it works great! i've never had any buzz issues, the action is quite good, sounds clear, and plays well, for the buck of course. I i tried a 74' fender mia p bass, spectors, warwicks, and i'm still happy with my cheap BTB.

I know this is a cheap bass, but in my opinion there are better basses out there in this price range

OLP Tony Levin
Squier Vintage Modified series
some Corts
Yamaha BBG and BB
Jackson C 20

and on and on.

Or you can buy used Roadstar or Blazer.
And you can play in a stadiums then.
Phil Lynott did.
