Ibanez GSR200

hmm, i think i might go with the ibanez. one question, on the westfield b1000LH it states that it has a lot of bottom end? is that a good or bad thing?

atm it's between the
B1000LH (£129.00 or $210) and the GSR200L (£195 or $316)

a GSR200 was my first bass. Its a great bass for the price. the pickups aren't outstanding, but for a starter bass their great IMO. and its great for any style of music. I played in drop c with mine and later turned into a fretless and i now use it to play solo and jazz. its a great bass to go back and mod once you get a new bass. I cant wait to start modding mine!

Unless you are dead set on a 4 string PJ style bass, also check out the GSR 205 which is a 5 string J style. I found my particular GSR 205 to be one of the best sounding basses in the store to me regardless of price. I liked it better than the GSR 200 and it goes for only about $50 more. I don't know if I got lucky and picked up the the magic GSR 205 but I prefer it to the way more expensive Mike Lull J I have.

random question: If i was to buy a bass without a strap. could I buy any left handed strap or does it have to be specific to the basS?

Whoa my brain just imploded.

Aside from the bass itself, everything else is usable with any arm. I sure hope you didn't buy some left-handed strings at a "special price"...

aight guys, still not decided on a bass. might be buying a Squier Affinity and amp off of my mate for £100.

now a question, are electronic tuners necessary? seeing as I'm a beginner is it best to learn to do it by ear or let the machines take over?

And what about tuning keys? Are they a necessity?

cheers so much guys, you've been so much help so far.

(ps: talking to my mate about it won't help as he has only been playing for like a month and has quit. hence why i'm buying the guitar.)
