Ibanez Love?

Out of the box, my SR305F (pearl white, fretless) had some weird wiring issues. Adjustments would cause crackling, but aside from that it has provided a variety of solid tones. From Jaco to that sweet, studio fretless (mwah?) tone. I've had it since '09, pretty dependable bass.

I’ve become a HUGE fan of the Ibanez Soundgear basses. The main thing that sets them apart for me is the neck. It’s much thinner than other brands and is so comfortable to play. The overall feel of the instrument is just great for me. I also love the sound of the Bartolini pickups. I bought an SR700 and year or two ago and I really dig it. Whenever I go to the music store I always try a few other basses and so far I’ve found nothing that feels as comfortable and easy to play as a Soundgear.

Also do you think I would get criticized for having a somewhat cheap bass? Is there really much of a difference between say this bass and an SR1800e to justify the extra money? I would hope for my next bass to be something I could use for a while and I dont want to get this and later regret it, selling it and then losing money. I would hate to do that.
It could happen, but that's just gear snobbery and you need not tolerate that crap. I frequently tell the story of "the DICK-enbacher." I let this guy use my amp head because his broke down. He thought he was the best bassist in the building because his bass cost north of a grand. He was pretty good, but me and a bassist who's band we gigged with a lot, who had a $99 squire p, made this guy look like a doofus. So he got insucure, told us about how his bass made ours look crappy, and he wouldn't let me play it for one second, after I let use my head for an entire show! Gear snobs exist, you just have to play better then them on your cheap(er) bass! :) and on the subject of Ibenez, the soundgear basses are awesome! I don't own one but have played three, including a six string I loved, great deal, excellent quality basses.

I love Ibanez guitars! I cried... and am still in mourning when I sold my 1800e... probably worst decision I made. Oh well, going to a good home I hope.

Also have a portamento srf705 fretless 5 string... one of finest fretless bass guitars I've played to date... if you haven't tried one and have a chance to... do it... they're awesome!
A mikro 4 string and 2 mikro 5 strings... the Mikros are killer for what you pay for...
and another 4 string that I can't remember off hand which model that I gave to a friend...
and 2 ibanez electric guitars... shredding machines... not that I can, mind you...

Here is my new Ibanez SR755ntf with Nordstrand pickups. This is prettier that I thought it would be and plays and sounds as good as any premium Ibanez I've owned. I can't wait to play it through my main rig tonight and let it stretch it's legs. This is a whole lot of bass for under a $900.

I have eight Ibanez basses in my collection. The most awesome of the bunch is an EDA905. I know a lot of people can't stand them, but the weird body is lightweight and comfortable to play. And how can anyone not love an instrument that resembles a giant Cheeto?

I still like my EDA900. Even have a lighter in the shape of one. Nice color on yours, that one's hard to find. I used to have a fiver in that coral red color.(actually had about five Ergodynes at one point, now down to one)

'The people who matter won't care, and the people who care won't matter.' Dr. Seuss...sorta
I Need a six hit it on the head.
Worry less about the azzhats.
Get the Ibanez that's right for you. I love my $80.00 pawn shop SoundGear...play it all the time. I have 'better' guitars, but that's not the point, is it?

Don't worry about criticism...

If you have the chops... Don't matter how cheapo or nice your guitar is as long as you can make it sing...

If you don't have the chops... Again won't matter if you play a cheapo...

However... You go around bragging about your 4005 or 1800e when you can't play your way out of a wet paper bag... Then your just asking for it...

Not that it should matter...

I wish I had a 4005 when I sucked like an Electrolux... Instead... Walked around playing a Stingray... ... Kidding...

Play whatever floats your boat... Just play is what matters...
