Ibanez or Spector?

As an owner of both Ibanez btb and Spector legend I would suggest the btb. Simply because of the price. If you want a nice Spector you will be spending quite a bit more. Either way you won't be disappointed.

I've owned both BTBs and Spector Legend - IMO the BTB wins hands down ;)

The Legend is not a bad bass, it has a very clear tone, but it lacks balls (aka lows). I've tested mine with several different strings and the best sounding overall were the Spector factory strings - everything else was mudding the tone and seemed to overtension the neck (I've tried a set of GHS and I could see the neck warping right before my eyes). Apart from that, the thing that really got on my nerves was that typical Spector bridge - I really really hate it - and it's probably the main reason as to why I'm not currently owning any Spector at all.

On the other hand the BTB line was designed to offer boutique quality at an affordable price; their lower models are nowhere near that claim, but their higher models are pretty ok - if that's your type of bass. You see, these are 35 scale basses - and as subtle as it might look on paper, you really feel the difference when you play it. Plus the bodies - to me - seem a bit bulky and oversized (at least compared to my SRs).

IMO the best Ibby bass line is their flagship: the SR. Anything from SR500 and up is killer ;)

I've owned both, and still own my BTB. The Spector was a Rebop 5. Loved how it played but never could get to liking as much as I wanted to the sound of the HZ pickups. They are both very different basses in the tone department but I think the BTB is a more versatile instrument. That's my opinion and of course. Your's might be completely opposite so you should test drive both.
