Ibanez SR 305 and Ibanez SR 505

are the differences really big between them?

i want a sr505 but i have to wait a long time to get one. if i get the sr305 then i could get it quicker cuz its way cheaper.

should i just get the sr305 or should i wait until i can get the sr505?

They don't make a lefty 305, but I have tried a 505, and think it's incredible. I played the new 500's and 300's, and think the 300's are almost as good as the 500's. The style-sweeper thing is something I'd have to get used to if I had a 300, but overall it's a really nice bass. The 3 band eq on the 500 and 505 are more flexible, especially with the mid range; I think that's the main difference.

As on owner of a srx505 in translucent black. Get it. I've had mine for 5 years, no problem, good neck. Tons of tone. Very Very Very powerful vs my other axes. Picked one up used if you have to. Like the other fella said they can be found easily.

i owned a sr505 for 1 week and returned it because the PUPs were so bad (to me). the mk1s. everything sounded muddy. i got a sr20th instead (sr3005). i never owned a sr305 personally, but it worth playing @ gc. personally, i think you get what pay for..... unless its some crazy once in a lifetime deal whatever. but my advice..... unless you dont own a bass or need a 5'er asap.... save. save for something you know you will enjoy and most importantly ... deserve. dont settle for less in anything. ok flame on guys.

I just played the bass before I typed this message & its got a lot of tone options. Muddy is one of them if you want but a million others are better. The lack of mid range control is odd but if you have a good amp with mid control & freq adjustments of midrange it will change your tone big time

ok... your heart is set on the 505. great. now listen.... i got a new 506 from GC on president's day 2007 for $380. haggle them. idc if they have new owners and what not. dont pay retail. you just may have enough in the bank and not know. ibanez moves big time @ gc. also, dont buy the case from gc. get them cheqper elsewhere or buy a used one.
