Ibanez SR375E

Hi!

I have been thinking about upgrading from a 4 string bass to a 5 string bass.
Ï have been looking into the Ibanez SR basses and I like the look of the Ibanez SR375E but I have not tried it yet in a store. Do your know if the SR basses require a battery in order to work or is it possible to use them in a passive mode?

Hi Edvin Persson!

The SR375E doesn't have an active-passive switch, but as mentioned by @Solarmist, no need to worry about the battery. It takes moons to deplete the battery (unless you've never unplugged the cord out of the output jack when not in use, which means the preamp is always on).

If you want active/passive in a SR you'd need to buy a Premium level model.
You can get one pre-owned under $1K.

or you could revamp the wiring in the SR375E to include a passive/active switch

BTW, the necks of the Premium series have Titanium reinforcement bars, which comes in handy with necks so thin.
No need to go high to the Premium line just to get factory equipped active-passive switch. The SR505 has one.
