yup shes passive now, and its a whole new bass so much more tone.. That preamp really robs this bass of tone more than it helps. And there still stock pickups.
oh and I added a series/parallel switch to the mix today.. WOW its got some ultra thumpy old school tone.
So there is 3 switches now, a 3 way for pickups, a kill switch, and a series/parallel switch(when on series the 3 way is bypassed, in parallel it works as normal), master volume, master tone. Using 250K pots versus the stock 500K thats in the preamp.

Nothing at all against the bass, it's been as loyal an instrument as I could ask for and a helluva bass, just not what I need or want anymore. But the sound of it is great.

The SR506 is my main player! Count me in, it's an incredible bass. I've never been happier with an instrument since I got my Geddy.

I love the 506 but the neck is too shallow for me. I'm always keeping an eye out for a 2001ish 406.

I gotta say, I'm not really a fan of Ibanez basses, I prefer necks on the thicker side, and I have no real interest in anything with more than 5 strings, but I did once plan an SR506 in a store, and damn if it didn't play itself. I almost bought it, I was very impressed.
No, I got it from Biker4Him about 3-4 months ago right here in the TB classifieds. It's an awesome sounding fretless. The neck really makes it play easy.
