Ibanez SR700...just got it.

sr300 is a great starter bass. can’t go wrong . I played the shxt out of one of those 300’s at a gc jam session, and a I was surprised at the sound and playability right off the rack. i have a sr700 amber with the contour switch and peavey unity series dyna bass koa, both which i love

I picked up a sweet SR700 for $300. Will post a pic when it arrives.

Great bass. I have it's big sister the 706 and love it. The neck is wonderful, the sound is fine to me and all round I find it great and pretty in a subtle way. Mine is black stained. I think you've picked a terrific instrument to start bass on. Good price too; mine as ~$US400 with moulded HSC which makes both of ours great value for what you get for the $, especially when you compare it with a lot of new basses. Enjoy.

I'm late to the game in getting an SR700. Just finally bought a used one now (Nov, 2020), but I used to play this model all the time in 2010 at Guitar Center. I think I was chasing the sound of this bass for years with Fenders. I was tempted to try the Squier Contemporary jazz bass because it has soap bar pickups, while all along I wanted that sound I used have playing the SR700, 10 years ago. I finally jumped in to get the bass with the sound I like, rather than hoping I'd get that sound from a Fender. The SR700 is an older model but it's beautiful and with the Bartolini MK1 pickups and preamp, it has the rich sound I was after all these years.

Man, I remember the SR700. Regret ever selling it. I think I did the same thing chasing that sound with Fenders. I miss that Ibanez neck.
