i have an oppurtunity to snach one up.
i just did a little bit of research and i think this is one of the infamous "lawsuit" basses. am i right? how much is it worth?

No, it's not a "lawsuit" bass.

It was an entry-level model from the early '80s.

Asking what it's worth requires a Supporting Membership.

The "what it's worth" rule is in place to put a halt to people trying to circumvent the rule that only supporting members can sell/trade on TalkBass. As far as I know/am concerned, it's alright if it's in the interest of purchasing a bass and wanting to make sure of the kind of deal you're getting and don't already own.

That in mind, if the seller wants anything over $200 (unless dead mint, $150 seems about right), there are a lot of good basses available new for a few more bucks.

well its only 100 so im gonna try it out and see what i think. so what would a "lawsuit" bass be worth just out of curiosity

A real "lawsuit" bass is a scary-close copy of a major brand model. A plain copyright violation. Thus, the "lawsuit" tag.

If you're shopping $100 basses, best you stay out of the "lawsuit" market.
