Ibanez TS9B

this would have to be pretty special to replace my bb preamp - but to be honest, no matter how good it sounds, I can't get on with ibanez/maxon pedals in a band setting.
sooo easy to step on the pedals at the wrong angle and not actually turn the thing on/off as required!! (I could be a clown-footed oaf, but i presonally blame the pedals!)

clip does sound rubbish, like a bassdrive with the treble on full and even less bass!

Very interesting. Sounds good. Don't like that it has 5 knobs to complicate settings. Not so easy to get your fingers in there for tweaking. Could live without the 'blend' to make things simpler. Price? Is it worth it? What will Maxon release to compete with this?

I've been waiting awhile for a bass-friendly tubescreamer variant from either Ibanez or Maxon, but found it in a Digitech Hardwire CM2. The CM2 has an additional feature of switchable mids contour. And it's cheap.

well, i spent a fair bit of time with it today.
i wasn't too struck with it tbh.
It sounded a little too fizzy for my taste, and the eq didn't seem to do a huge amount.
The monkey's eq was better to my ears.
The blend was probably the best thing i could find about it. There seemed to always be some clean in the signal no matter how far i pushed the knob.
With a doubt some of you guuys will be finding your 'holy grail' of drive with this pedal. It just didn't blow me away.
In the end after a/b ing it with the agro, i walked away with the aggy

I highly recommend that you mod your ODB to allow more bass & get rid of some fizz. It's as easy as replacing 2 caps with higher value caps. If you're handy with a soldering iron it's a piece of cake!

Makes a huge difference.

could you share the mod, I'm buying an ODB-3 today and I'm very interested. I don't want a smooth tubescreamishy vibe, I like an open sounding grind or grit. it doesn't smooth it out too much, does it?
