Is this a good bass for a player of about 1 year? I just wanted an opinion from my buddies(?) here at TB.Thanks in advance.

I had the SRX390 and it was ok. The neck was SMOOTH and thin...easy to play. The pups on it seem to be pretty strong too. I picked it up on Ebay for $179 then $30 or so for shipping. The only reason I got rid of it at the time was to get the Ibby SR500.

The SRX basses are excellent for rock/metal/heavy playing. The humbuckers are very strong, so you need to tweak the sound for other purposes. But the built-in EQs are excellent for such work.

I completely agree. I own an SRX505 and it sounds and plays great. It's mostly for hard rock and metal but you can use it for other styles as well.

I like the ibanez range alot

I love my k5! small string spacing plus smooth neck and elixirs = just want to play and play and play!

ive set mine up so that it has a slightly boosted low and treble and a little bit more boosted mids than the others on the EQ, basically has a really good finger tone for hard rock/metal/slap with neck pickup then put it to bridge pickup for a jazz / country / normal rock tone...

not sure what the 4 stringers are like but I loved all the 5ers I played at the shop

There's actually a pup balancer knob on the SR400.
