then i was is fact mistaken. i knew it was some kind of blue metallic cuz i durn near bought one.

Ice Blue Metallic? (Fenders)

Ice Blue Metallic was originally a custom Fender color from the early to mid 1960's. When you see true vintage instruments these days they look metallic sage green due to clear coat yellowing. The 'true' color coat does indeed look like the Jazz bass posted above. The MF strat is NOT ice blue.
I think it's tricky in real life to differentiate between the various Fender blues, and to do so from pictures over the internet is nigh-impossible. Between colors looking different in photographs and yellowing in the case of vintage instruments, any given picture could be any of several Fender blue colors.
As I understand it, Lake Placid Blue is a pretty solid "medium" blue metallic. Chrome (Electron?) Blue (used on many many MIM instruments in recent years) is brighter (slightly lighter, but not much) compared to LPB. Agave Blue is a milder blue with maybe a little grey in it, but I had an Agave Blue MIM Jazz and it did not look silver---at least, not in most light. Ice Blue Metallic, on the other hand, is well over on the continuum between blue and silver---certainly more silver than Agave Blue.
That's the medium Fender blues; there are darker (Navy, Midnight) and lighter (Sonic, Daphne) but those would be tough to confuse with any of the medium blues. They are not tough to confuse with each other, though.

The shades will vary slightly from year to year. Lake placid is the darkest blue, Ocean Turquoise has a slight greenish tint. Ice blue is lighter still, and blue agave is just hint lighter than ice blue. Then there is also gun metal blue(fender never used it I don't think)which is a bit more silver than agave, and then still there is firemist silver which is silver with a slight bluish tint originally. Anybody confused yet?

Firemist almost always has a red undercoat, thus the 'firemist'. I've never seen a silver, but of course there is a firemist gold which is different from shoreline (silver undercoat).
I have the same one..but its a 4 string!
I also have an Ice Blue Metallic Jazz Bass 5-String..
Here it is...
I wish I could get some white Pickup Covers for this Bass. For a 4-String...No Problem, but for a 5-String it seems to be hard, to finde some. 
Fender seemed to replace Blue Agave with Electron Blue. I remember watching the changeover on Musician's Buddy some years ago. I wish they hadn't. I love Blue Agave. Not so the Electron.
