Ideas on how to remove paint over hardware without damaging anything?

I recently got a bass through trade that wad in rough shape cosmetically. The finish was removed with a heat gun carelessly so the body is toast. And it's still unfinished.

Amway, the reason I'm posting is it looks like the hardware is covered in an additional layer of black paint ( the original stuff was black as well) see the picture for reference. I tried rubbing mineral spirits on it but it's slow going. It looks like nail polish but it's stubborn as heck to remove. Anyone have any ideas for what could do the job without harming the hardware itself? I managed to scrap a bit off as seen in the photo. Thanks in advance!

It's on all the hardware...tuners included. Functionally there is no issue with them, so it would be a waste of money if I could easily remove the paint with something else.

Appreciate the assist. I've already googled this. The reason I'm asking on here is so I could get input from someone who has experience using a removal technique with guitar hardware specifically, which numerous google searches have failed to produce satisfactory results.

Acetone will remove lacquer. Stripper will remove most other finishes. Test on an area where it will not be seen.

Thanks. Appreciate it. Any risk to the anodized finish underneath?

Acetone won't remove anodizing but it's obviously not good for plastics or paint. Make sure you do your due diligence to fully disassemble every part you intend to clean with acetone so you don't mistakenly damage some important plastic piece (i.e. nylon washers used in tuning machines, knobs with plastic splines, etc.).
