Sure, but I'm talking about a place where I could try basses, not just buy them.

I really prefer to try out a bass to see if I'll like it before I buy it.

Link Removed. Twelve minutes from my house. It simply rules. They'll let you play any bass they have.

You won't find Carvins in stock at any store except the Carvin store.

True. I live 15 minutes from the Carvin factory, too.

I've driven 5 hours to just go look at basses before. I don't see a problem with it. Priorities!

It's a rare thing when I have 5 hours in any given day where I'm free to do what I want.

Its called New York City.

Not so much anymore. Ever since Sam Ash bought out most of the storefronts on 48th street, it is a little harder to find many brands. When Manny's was still Manny's (before Sam Ash bought them), there were all sorts of high end basses and unusual models kicking around.

The spot for high-end stuff is Rudy's, but even their inventory is limited. You can find plenty of Fodera's and Ritters, but a Roscoe or F bass is a little harder to come by.

Of the stores I've physically been in, Bass Central has the largest selection, by far. Also, they guys there were very cool. They were salesmen, but they also understood "I just want to try out a bunch of stuff."
