If 3-4 pieces of alder or basswood glued together is plywood...
Yesterday I received the shippment of my Highway 1 Jazz Bass (one of the last sunburst finish
, no longer available!) and guess what: It is made of 4 piece alder
, though it's a US-Fender!!!

You are absolutely wrong.
Squier Pbass uses Agathis wood.
"What is Agathis wood?
Agathis is sometimes referred to as "commercial grade mahogany". It is
indigenous to the Far East and South Pacific areas."
Aka professional plywood.

WOW! You don't understand what plywood is, do you?
Plywood is several - three to nine, perhaps - large, thin flat sheets of wood glued together to make a "sandwich". If it's done correctly, the grain of each layer is perpendicular to the grains of the adjacent layers.
How do you make the jump from "commercial grade mahogany" to plywood?![]()
Oh i should also note. When i say plywood, i just mean cheap wood. probably should have mentioned that. dont mean to sound like one of those nerds.
If you mean the Squier, you should totally go for it. I tried it today and it's absolutely killer.

I have always said that if they changed the name to something else people wouldn't have a problem.
I remember back in the day Squier was a joke, literally.
As in, "Bob just got a new guitar, a Squier. HAHAHAHA"
At this point why even have the Squier branding? Just slap the name Fender on it at this point.
Although then they would probably bump the price up because of the designer label.
it's about margin these days...it used to be more about quality...but as American quality wains and international quality grows, the gap is narrowing...and hence these days, it's really just alll smoke and mirrors...
For god sake that already happened years ago.
My MIM 50's P Bass is one of the finest instruments I've ever played.
There is a quality difference between Squier and Fender. Sure, I could buy the Squier version of the 51 reissue (if there is one?) but it won't have the quality of my Fender 51 re-issue; which is MIJ by the way.
