So
it was a productive day. Although most of it was spent picking up supplies

, and doing work for my other Luthiery gig. I got some overdue basics done. Truss rod slot, routed, fingerboard, decided and cut. I went with the wenge, i love the stuff and Im just wanting to do a nice, straight forward, 4-string bass (Its sooo tempting to do crazy laminates and veneers for me) who ever they are, they say less is more

. I am fortunate to have a router table, it makes routing for truss rods quick. Find center of the neck, (and your router bit) mark a line on the outside (of the neck and table) to know your ending point, flip it upside down and (in small increments) bobs your uncle. A taper jig made short work of the finger board (finger board/fret board, I guess finger board makes more since seeing as they dont all have frets). Then as the dust settled I plotted bridge, pick-up, and wiring channel locations. To connect the 2 pick-up cavities (at the moment, Im thinking jazz style
maybe P. J. well see, or
well see) I like to rout a small channel on the treble side of the neck before gluing on the wing for the wires to pass through(Ill have pics when I get there). Thats it for today, not as much as Id like, but its progress
(T.R.upside down for pic)
And to finish my day
Yep
A classic, a beers beer, and honestly my favorite.
Till next time
