2) A good vintage J w/ flats
3) Sadowsky 4 string
4) Passive J with retrofit pickups (EMGs or DiMarzios) & roundwounds
5) A good P with roundwounds
6) Musicman Sterling (I've only got lil hands)
7) Fretted 5 string J type (custom build with active / passive and custom neck profile)
8) Fretless version of #7
9) Gibson EB3 (Just for the Jack Bruce-ness of it)
10) An Ashbory (for anything that smells like jazz)

I currently own #3, #4 x 2 (one fretted & one fretless) plus a random 5 string MM style.

Well, I am madly in love with my ASAT and can't imagine much else.

-Fretless ASAT semi-hollowbody w/ cherryburst body and an ebony fingerboard w/ flats

I really have no idea what I want for a 10th bass. I don't even really want the last two. I just think they're interesting. I think a fretted and fretless ASAT cover all the tones I will ever need. It's not really practical for me to need more than that.

Two more CB, one 4 string with 32' scale with trem and splitcoil pickup (a'la P-bass). One 34 CB with one H.
Two more Nordy's. Bought PINK and one 5 string jazz with one pice maple neck and one 5 string P-bass with maple neck too. And bought of them with swamp ash body, thank you.
Then I would like to have one Alembic. Stanley Clark and then one series II. And last but not least one Status bass, that black 32' scale MK used to play.
And I wouldnt sell any of my basses. I have one pink Nordy, custom made jazz and one 6 string fretless CB...:bassist:

I would get 10 custom built basses to MY specs. It would probably take the first 7 or 8 to narrow things down and the final 2 or 3 would be the signature models.

Other than that if I was going for pure collector I would only need one. The very first Fender bass. If I had that one, I win the collection game hands down.

More realistically an SB4000 or SB4000F, and SB5000 from Carvin, a MTD or Lakeland just because you guys never stop talking about them and I need to try them out.

As for Fenders, which I do like, I think they just cost way too much for what you get spec wise. For the same price as an off the rack Fender I can have a bass made to order so I find it hard to justify the expense. That being said my favorite Fender is without a doubt the new P-bass deluxe PJ with the compound radius neck and contoured heel. For me a non production USA Custom Shop made to my specs (woods, finishes and pickups) version of that bass would be amazing. I would have to get both a 4 string and a 5er though.
