if I were to set up a bass I would custom order a fender P bass with an ash body, in a high gloss black finish (no pick guard) a 24 fret ebony neck with a rosewood fret-board (fretted), as for hardware i would use duel humbuckers with a third splitter.

I know im really dreaming here but thats what this thread is about, go nuts let your imagination soar.

I wish I could get an Ibanez SR500 with a nicely figured and thick maple top over the mahogany body. Gentler right-arm-rest curve to keep from revealing the darker wood.
Clear finish with a darker fade around the edges of the body.
Black hardware.
Trapezoid inlays on the fingerboard.



And a Bartolini MM humbucker instead of the usual bridge pickup.

Hmm.. Rickenbacker 4005, Green Burst, Maple fretboard with a P profile neck. Maybe a darkstar in the neck, but id have to experiment with it.

Otherwise it would have to be a massive thunderbird/explorer or something with a built in keytar.. for the lulz.
