As fun as it would be to come up with answers from the GAS list above - I currently own two and only two basses, both Yamaha BB's - a fretted 5 and a fretless 4. The real answer to this question is not what you decide browsing slick glossy photos online, it's what you do with your checkbook.

My current dream bass is a Rickenbacker 4003. My current bass ... it's at a store waiting for me to save up some money

as for a second bass ... well whatever i buy as a learner while i save up for the Rickenbacker will be just fine.
